Empowering the Next Generation of Women in Tech: EGOI 2025
Earlier this July, the fifth European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI) took place in Bonn. More than 200 participants from over 50 countries came together to compete in algorithmic problem-solving at the highest level. But EGOI was more than just a competition – it was part of a growing movement to create visibility, connection, and lasting motivation for girls in tech.
Over the course of two intense days, young coding talents from across Europe and beyond demonstrated not only technical skills but also what it means to confidently take up space in a still male-dominated field. EGOI showed once again how important it is to build support structures early and invest in long-term engagement.
SheTransformsIT joined the event as a communications partner, supporting the shared goal of strengthening the tech pipeline and making space for more women to shape our digital future.
The question is often asked: how do we get more women into tech? Our answer is clear – by starting early, staying consistent, and ensuring that programmes like EGOI aren’t one-off initiatives but part of a broader strategy for change.
The next edition of EGOI is already in planning. The goal: to reach even more young talents and continue building a more diverse and inclusive digital world.
